Berea Gardens: Green Again!!
Hi Folks,
It has been quite a long season of cold, gray and white, but we haven’t just been sitting by the woodstove. I am pleased that the first plantings since the new year are ripening and some are ready for harvest. We have some of the sweetest, most tender kale we have grown (These plants actually went in the ground a few days before our record minus 21 degree low last January,) some very nice, large leaved spinach, and some romaine ready for you this week.
Also, check out the addition of cormeals that we have freshly ground from our own heirloom grain corn varieties. This tasty, heilroom, organic, non-GMO cornmeal is just the thing for great cornbread, grits, polenta or anywhere a recipe calls for cornmeal.
We are happy to be back at your service and are looking forward to nicer weather and the ripening of other crops that are already in the ground. Carrots,
broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage are on their way soon.
Our pick-up time is still Wednesday between 4 and 7 PM.
Blessings,
Bob

Joyful Noise Acres Farm: Correction
I am so sorry, Amy at Farm Fresh Foods is baking the Retro Lamb cake and a multitude of other items. I attributed the cake to Two Daughters Bakery. Both of these vendors are producing some wonderful foods for us this week. I think I saw a Strawberry Gallate on the market…..

Joyful Noise Acres Farm: JNA Farm market is open for ordering.
Hello Springtime! Have you noticed all the blossoms? The fruit trees are putting on a show and so is the forsythia. The bees are all over the place, getting fat and happy with the abundance of pollen. Gotta love Spring.
Vegetables are trickling in this week, we have kale, turnips with roots, salad greens available on the extra table and maybe a few more surprises.
Two Daughters Bakery is busy baking this week and has an adorable lamb shaped cake that will be the centerpiece of any spring celebration. If you have not tasted her decadent desserts, you should.
Four Mile Farm has Lamb shoulder steaks, ground lamb and a leg of lamb available this week and Joyful Noise Acres Farm has a few hams available.
Has anyone noticed more cream on the milk? Spring grasses are nourishing the cows and the milk is benefitting. Tell your pets to drink up! We are so grateful to Cedar Rock Dairy for providing this to us. If you are ever down towards Butler, GA, look Sam up and tour the farm. He loves to show off his cows and his cows are always showing off.
Thank you for supporting locally grown foods and farmers.
Blessings,
Mary Beth

Champaign, OH: For Those About To Rock!
For those about to rock, we salute you…
(AC/DC – For Those About To Rock)
So, what do the lyrics from an AC/DC song, and the Cosmic hippie bakestress have in common? Well, once upon a time, I was in high school. I had a core group of friends, we rocked out to AC/DC, like everyone in the very early 80s, and we drove our cool cars (or caught rides in cool cars) with this as our backdrop of music.
Yes…that was me for a fleeting moment in time!
Anyway, as you all know, I hold my friendships to my heart, I hold my West End people even closer, and I hold my high school group in a special place in my heart. They rocked my world, we rocked and we ruled, and together, we all managed to graduate, go on and conquer college, and then went on to be successful hippies, er, wait…that was just me:)
Anyway, one of my best pals in high school, posted on of our old soundtracks from the class of 1982, on Facebook, the other day. I was overcome with memories, laughter, and a love that comes with fondness, and deep seeded familiarity.
AC/DC was high on the soundtrack, this song made me think of this market, and so tonight, I would like to open this little local market of love, with a HUGE Rock Stars of Local salute, for Those About to Rock!! (Our market:)
Go ahead…pick up on the theme, rock our market, make us even bigger rock stars of local legends, and start the fun of ordering!!
Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam
