Champaign, OH:  Taking Care Of Business

And we be takin’ care of business every day…
Takin’ care of business every way…
We’ve been takin’ care of business, it’s all mine…
Takin’ care of business and working overtime…
(Bachman – Turner Overdrive – Takin Care Of Business)

Well….A big, huge, standing ovation to your Buckeyes!! They went, they took care of business, they left with the victory!! The kind of heart warming, adrenaline pumping story of victory that makes it all so sweet. No matter who your team is, what school you usually cheer for, during the season, there was no denying that last night was simply amazing!

I am always about the under dogs, the ones who just kept the focus and let it lead them to success or victory.

This little market of love was the underdog. The little one that had the naysayers, the doubters, the, dare I even say it? The haters? Every solid team goes through this. The difference is how you show up, how you keep your vision, your focus, how you play it all out, how you take care of business.

I hope that everyone is basking in the victory, recovering from fun, proud to be a part of this state, of this community.

Today is Tuesday…the market will close, tonight, at 10pm. How about taking care of some business, right here? Show some love, right here? If you order, now, you will be ready for an early night to relax after last night’s crazy fun.

Peace and Love,
Cosmic Pam

Green Fork Farmers Market:  No market this Wednesday

Dear Green Fork Farmers Market Customers,

We just want to remind you that we will not have a market this Wednesday, January 14 because we will be at a sustainable agriculture conference. We will have a market next Wednesday, January 21 from 4-7 pm at Nightbird Books, 205 W. Dickson St. in Fayetteville.

We hope you have a good week, and we’ll see you next Wednesday!

Thanks,

Old99Farm Market:  Old 99 Farm, week of Jan 11 2015

The Guelph Organic Conference is coming up soon, Jan 29 to Feb 1, but the main event is the sat/sun weekend. You can go for free, no admission on the weekend, and visit over 200 booths in the tradeshow, or $40/day for workshops (choose 5 from 20 on sat, 3 from 12 on sunday) The tracks are themed: Organic Crop Production, Organic Livestock Management, Urban Agriculture and CityFarm issues, Pollination, Horticulture and Production, and Permaculture & Restoration Agriculture.
Friday evening there is an Organic Foods/Holistic Health symposium for $40. See the website www.guelphorganicconference.ca for details. Prices go up after Jan 14.

The egg situation has stabilized, thank you for helping out via my buy 3 get 4 incentive. Wouldntya know it, the hens drastically cut back this week, for as yet unknown reasons, so I might be short now! Needless to say, regular terms are in effect as of yesterday.

We harvested several bushels of carrots from the greenhouse, very tasty due to the cold: Eliot Coleman calls them ‘sugar carrots’ and sells out every year. We have the baby size and regular size.

Another helpful book from the Weston A Price Foundation is now available at local bookstores: Nourishing Broth, about the legion health benefits of bone broths and their many uses. I’m right into it. There is a chapter on each of 11 different diseases or afflictions that broth can help. And then many recipes for broth and its uses.

As of Jan 11th, we can offer 57+ items including the following crops: salad greens, mint, beet root, chard, celeriac, carrots, squashes (hubbard, butternut, Sibley, buttercup, spaghetti and delicata), mixed greens, green onions and lettuce. There are lots of eggs and honey.

Camelia is cooking prepared foods from our produce: garlic pesto, cucumber relish, quiches (on order).

Would anyone be interested in bone broths prepared by Camelia? We could sell in 1 or 2 L jars, with deposit. Would you pay $10/L? Options could be beef, chicken, lamb or pork. Feedback requested.

We have lots of ground beef and a quarter side. I have 5 lambs in the freezer, as well as veal. The pork is selling well as are the stewing hens.

Healthy eating
Ian and Camelia

Heirloom Living Market Lilburn:  Countdown to Market Close at 8:00pm Tonight!

Market closes at 8:00pm

Notes and Reminders

For those of you who have been with the Market for a while, I am sure you remember the great produce we were always offered by Burnell Farms! The great news is Tammy and William will be re-joining the Market for the Winter Season. Although they do not have items listed this week; Tammy will be brining:

Kale
Romaine Lettuce
Huge heads of Savoy Cabbage
Cauliflower
Broccoli

that will be on the Farmers’ Sale Table at each Market! I suspect that these offerings will sell out very quickly, so plan on getting to Market pickup EARLY to snag what you would like!

Marie of Bakery on Brooks, our marvelous Gluten Free Baker will have offerings on the Farmers’ Sale Table including her new item – Gluten Free Pancake Mix (complete with recipe!) I know I will definitely be grabbing one of those — as I am sure Sarah will also! Don’t miss out! The Pancake Mix will be listed in Marie’s offerings on the Market menu next week!

After a stressful holiday baking time, Dabrielle and husband Bruce are heading down to Florida for some R & R and to help their daughter move! Tortillas, Pumpernickel and Challah will not be available for the next 2 weeks. If you want some, place your order this week and freeze so you have those goodies while they are gone. Their very capable Baker son, Brandon will be handling the Bakery while they are walking the beach, drinking Pina Coladas and moving daughter!

That’s it — Order before close!!

Thanks!
